CHB SPCA Income
The organisation receives no government funding or no national SPCA Office funding. The Op Shop is the main source of income at 48%. Donations from kind supporters - people like you - and local fundraising account for 41% of income. Grants, new for 2015, make a small but important contribution.

Very little is expended on administration (4%) as the daily operation and the organisation’s committee is staffed entirely by approximately 50 - 60 core volunteers including Department of Correction workers and school students. Collectively they contribute in excess of 400 unpaid hours of work per week. The Animal Welfare Inspector is the only paid employee which is necessary to maintain a fully effective animal welfare service. Vet services are a significant cost (25%) but have been reduced in recent years in consultation with and by goodwill from our vet to a minimum without compromising animal care. Centre overheads such as rent, rates and utilities for the SPCA centre and op shop are fixed costs that cannot be avoided. Animal supplies are kept to a minimum by accepting animal food donations from public and businesses and buying bulk economy products.
